Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin addressed his team’s prospects prior to the start of on-ice sessions at the Canucks’ 2022 Development Camp.
More than three dozen players — including first-round picks Jonathan Lekkerimäki and Filip Johansson — will hit the ice in Canucks sweaters at the University of British Columbia this week, where they’ll all be under the watchful eye of the Canucks’ front office and development staff.
Allvin made sure to emphasize all the resources the prospects will have at their disposal during their time with the Canucks.
“We have a lot of good players and good staff members who have been around and played here for a long time,” Allvin said. “We’ve got the two Hall of Famers, Daniel and Hank — congrats — they’ve got their jerseys retired up in the rafters. Stan Smyl has his jersey up here. Everybody in here has a different path to get there.
“But this group, these staff members in here, they’re gonna help you guys. It’s a sacrifice to become a champ here. A lot of good players have gone through here,” Allvin continued. “Every single day, you guys have something to prove.”

Five of the six players the Canucks selected at the 2022 NHL Draft will be in attendance at Development Camp, with the lone exception being seventh-round pick Kirill Kudryavtsev.
Lekkerimäki, Daimon Gardner, Ty Young, Jackson Dorrington, and the other Elias Pettersson will all be on the ice at UBC.
