Canucks and coaches Scott Walker, Kyle Gustafson, Darryl Seward part ways

Assistant coaches Scott Walker and Kyle Gustafson, as well as video coach Darryl Seward, will not return to the Vancouver Canucks next season.

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced the changes to their coaching staff in a press release on Sunday afternoon.

Both Walker, 48, and Gustafson, 41, only served as an assistant coaches in Vancouver for one season. Seward, 49, had been with the Canucks since 2017.

CanucksArmy’s own David Quadrelli reported that Walker’s departure is for family reasons.

“We would like to thank Scott, Kyle, and Darryl for their hard work and contributions to the organization during their Canucks tenures,” Allvin said in the release. “We are pleased with our current coaching staff and look forward to expanding on the momentum they built last year.”

As previously announced, head coach Bruce Boudreau will remain in his existing capacity with the Canucks to begin the 2022–23 season.

Boudreau joined the Canucks midway through the 2021–22 campaign to replace the fired Travis Green. The 67-year-old coach led the Canucks to a 32-15-10 record in the final 57 games of the year.

Assistant coaches Brad Shaw and Jason King will return to serve on Boudreau’s staff next season, as will long-serving goaltending coach Ian Clark.
