The draft has come and gone, and now the development begins.
Just two (or three) days after being selected, six newly minted members of the Vancouver Canucks will attend Development Camp at UBC this week.
In total, 33 names were invited, with almost half of them (16) being camp invitees.

Forwards
Colin Kessler
Team: University of Vermont Catamounts (NCAA)
Age: 21 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-1 | Weight: 181 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Anchorage, Alaska, USA

Colin Kessler, 21, has an intriguing offensive profile. He demonstrates good speed and a soft touch, which enables him to create creative goals.
Yet another freshman, he recorded 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in 34 NCAA games, finishing second on his University of Vermont Catamounts.
Up against some stiff competition, he was named a finalist for Hockey East Rookie of the Year. Unfortunately, he was up against Cole Hutson and James Hagens, so naturally he fell short.
He’s a name we will be watching quite closely this week.
Mirko Buttazzoni
Team: UMass Lowell (NCAA)
Age: 20 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 5-foot-11 | Weight: 190 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Langley, British Columbia, Canada
Age: 20 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 5-foot-11 | Weight: 190 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Langley, British Columbia, Canada
As a Langley native, Mirko Buttazzoni is the camp’s lone invitee with deep local ties. Throughout his career, he has played for teams such as the Burnaby Winter Club, West Vancouver Academy, Alberni Valley Bulldogs, and Coquitlam Express.
The cousin of NHLer Zach Benson (Buffalo Sabres), Buttazzoni recently completed his freshman season at UMass in 2024-25, where he displayed a well-rounded game with strong two-way play.
He finished second on the River Hawks with 19 points in 32 games, while co-leading the team with 14 assists.
He has a decent history of putting up numbers, with 96 points in 126 BCHL (Alberni and Coquitlam) games, 71 points in 45 AJHL (Brooks Bandits) games.
Ray Fust
Team: Sacred Heart University
Age: 22 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-4 | Weight: 205 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Bellinzona, Switzerland
Age: 22 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-4 | Weight: 205 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Bellinzona, Switzerland
Ray Fust, a 22-year-old left-winger, is a physically imposing forward at Clarkson University. However, he has recently entered the NCAA transfer portal – for the second time in three years – and will be heading to Sacred Heart University.
Over three NCAA seasons, he hasn’t shown much in the offensive department, with just 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) in 80 games.
Known for his towering size, strength, and ability to play in front of the net, Fust is a power forward with small ties to BC. Despite growing up in Switzerland, he crossed over at a young age and spent a season with the Chilliwack Chiefs in 2020-21 before heading to the USHL and eventually the NCAA.
Ben Muthersbaugh
Team: Union College (NCAA)
Age: 21 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 5-foot-11 | Weight: 187 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Gilford, New Hampshire, USA
Age: 21 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 5-foot-11 | Weight: 187 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Gilford, New Hampshire, USA
A 21-year-old left-winger, Ben Muthersbaugh had an impressive freshman season at Union College in 2024-25, earning NCAA (ECAC) All-Rookie Team honours with 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in 36 games. That finished tied for second on the team in scoring.
Muthersbaugh is a versatile forward known for his powerful shot and ability to produce points.
Amine Hajibi
Team: Northeastern University (NCAA)
Age: 20 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-1 | Weight: 185 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Age: 20 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-1 | Weight: 185 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
If you’re looking for a fun, offensive player to keep tabs on this week, Amine Hajibi could be the spark plug you are looking for.
Known for his quick feet and shifty demeanour, he makes life tough for defenders off the rush and shows soft and quick hands in tight. Now committed to Northeastern, he’s put up a strong statistical resume over the last two years at the USHL level with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders.
In 117 games, he’s compiled 31 goals and 99 points to lead his team two years running. What’s intriguing about Hajibi’s game is that his offensive pedigree doesn’t interfere with his defensive responsibility. He’s known as a two-way player, with a nose for the net.
Zachary Morin
Team: Saint John’s Sea Dogs (QMJHL)
Age: 18 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 174 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Lachenaie, Quebec, Canada
Age: 18 | Position: Left Wing | Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 174 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Lachenaie, Quebec, Canada
Zachary Morin, an 18-year-old left winger, went undrafted in the 2025 NHL Draft but remains a prospect with upside.
Despite starting the season with the Youngstown Phantoms (USHL), he transitioned to the QMJHL, where he finished fourth among rookies with 36 points (16 goals, 20 assists) in 56 games.
Although his skating is a significant area of concern and requires refinement, he possesses some intriguing skills and is a known producer. He carries a promising 6-foot-2 frame, which, if fully developed, would likely make him a draftable prospect today.
Eligible as a re-entry for the 2026 Draft, attending the Development Camp could be a good opportunity to turn some heads before returning to Saint John. He is committed to Boston University for the 2026-27 academic year.
Defencemen
Carsen Adair
Team: Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL)
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 190 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Clavet, Saskatchewan, Canada
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 190 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Clavet, Saskatchewan, Canada
Carsen Adair, a left-shot defenceman, is coming off his rookie season with the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes, where he was selected in the third round (55th overall) of the 2022 WHL Draft.
Statistically speaking, his season was modest, with just nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 66 games. That said, he has shown two-way success in lower levels.
In the 2023-24 season, just before he transitioned to the major junior ranks, he posted 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 42 regular-season games. That earned Adair the Adam Herold Memorial Award as the top defenseman in Saskatchewan’s SMAAAH (AAA) league.
Ranked 203rd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2025 NHL Draft, he went undrafted and will now look to turn heads as he heads into his second year of eligibility.
His size, puck-moving ability, and two-way potential make him a prospect to watch at camp.
Matthew Grimes
Team: University of Minnesota (NCAA)
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-1 | Weight: 185 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Locust Valley, New York, USA
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-1 | Weight: 185 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Locust Valley, New York, USA
Matthew Grimes is a left-shot defenceman committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2025-26 season.
A 2025 NHL Draft-eligible player, Grimes went unranked by Central Scouting and undrafted after two seasons with the USHL’s Sioux Falls Stampede. Across 107 USHL games, he recorded 23 points (four goals, 19 assists) and 87 penalty minutes, maintaining an even plus/minus.
As evidenced by his low statistical output, Grimes is known for his defensive efforts. However, he has shown flashes of offensive touch, propelled by a strong skating and transitional game.
Xander Velliaris
Team: Saginaw Spirit (OHL)
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 205 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 205 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Xander Velliaris, an 18-year-old left-shot defenceman, brings impressive size and mobility to the Canucks’ development camp.
Traded midseason from the Kingston Frontenacs to the Saginaw Spirit in 2024-25, he recorded nine points in 52 OHL games, primarily playing a role further down the defensive corps.
Ranked 202nd by NHL Central Scouting, Velliaris went undrafted in 2025 but remains eligible for 2026. While his skill set remains raw, he shows potential in his skating, size, and two-way ability.
He’s a player who could certainly gain traction in his second season of draft eligibility.
Stefan Milosevic
Team:Leksands IF (SHL)
Age: 21 | Height: 6-foot-4 | Weight: 220 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Ystad, Sweden
Age: 21 | Height: 6-foot-4 | Weight: 220 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Ystad, Sweden
You could probably tell from the size, but Stefan Milosevic is described as a physical shutdown defender. With a few quick stops in the SHL, he’s spent the majority of the last two seasons in the HockeyAllsvenskan. He hasn’t put up much of an offensive resume, but he recently led the Allsvenskan as a plus-27.
It’s actually the second time he’d be crowned as the plus/minus leader, after he had put up a plus-21 season in the J20 in the 2022-23 campaign. That also happened to be his best statistical year, during which he scored 31 points in 43 games as captain of Frolunda.
He recently signed a two-year deal with BIK Karlskoga in the Swedish Hockey League.
Mack Oliphant
Team: College of Holy Cross (NCAA)
Age: 22 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 194 lbs | Shoots: Right
Birthplace: Northbrook, Illinois, USA
Age: 22 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 194 lbs | Shoots: Right
Birthplace: Northbrook, Illinois, USA
Mack Oliphant, whom we’ve highlighted at CanucksArmy in the past, is the lone right-shot defenseman invited. He broke out of his shell during his junior season (2024-25) at the College of the Holy Cross, tallying a career-high 29 points (goals and assists) in 36 games.
His season earned him a spot on the NCAA (AHA) Second All-Conference Team and helped his team win the regular-season title. Oliphant also took home a team award, winning the Michael P. Quinn Award, handed to the team’s defensive player of the year.
Now heading into his senior year, he’ll sport an “A” as an alternate captain for the first time in his career.
Undrafted, the 22-year-old will look to earn an NHL contract instead.
Duncan Ramsey
Team: University of Vermont Catamounts (NCAA)
Age: 21 | Height: 6-foot-5 | Weight: 195 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Age: 21 | Height: 6-foot-5 | Weight: 195 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Duncan Ramsay, a Halifax native, has had an interesting career, jumping back and forth between US and Canadian ranks, and he does have some ties to the local area. In 2022-23, he suited up for the Chilliwack Chefs, where he put up eight points in 36 games on the team’s backend.
Now at the University of Vermont, he’s put up just four assists across 58 games across two seasons. A shutdown defender, Ramsey’s physical presence and reach make him a formidable opponent, though his offensive game remains limited.
This will be his second stint with an NHL team, after attending the Washington Capitals’ development camp in 2024.
Zach Sandhu
Team: Oshawa General (OHL)
Age: 19 | Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 194 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Age: 19 | Height: 6-foot-2 | Weight: 194 lbs | Shoots: Left
Birthplace: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
After two years of eligibility, 19-year-old Zach Sandhu was passed on again at the NHL draft. That, despite putting up a career-high of nine goals, 24 points and 92 penalty minutes with the Oshawa Generals in his third full season in the OHL.
Known for his physicality, Sandhu logs good minutes at the OHL level, and his career point totals add an interesting blend of offensive touch. That said, it’ll likely be his size, toughness, and defensive reliability that make him a shutdown depth candidate.
Like Duncan Ramsay, this will be Sandhu’s second crack at an NHL camp after joining the Red Wings last summer.
Goaltenders
Moody Ross
Team: Wichita Thunder (ECHL)
Age: 24 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 183 lbs | Catches: Left
Birthplace: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Age: 24 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 183 lbs | Catches: Left
Birthplace: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Roddy Ross, a 24-year-old goaltender, was selected 169th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2019 NHL Draft. He has since become a free agent.
Unfortunately, Ross’s career never took off after a three-year stint in the WHL, primarily spent with the Seattle Thunderbirds.
Without a contract, he would transition to Canadian University, spending four years with the University of Saskatchewan (USports), where he’s been one of the best netminders in the league.
In the 2024-25 year, specifically, he posted a 10-4-0 record with a 1.99 goals against and a .928 save percentage. His efforts earned him his first USports title and the Western Conference’s Goaltender of the Year award.
That play earned him his first professional contract, which he signed with the Wichita Thunder in late March. He played in five games during the regular season and playoffs, but struggled in the latter.
If you want to talk journeyman, Roddy Ross defines that to a tee.
Matthew Hutchinson
Team: Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 190 lbs | Catches: Left
Birthplace: Nanaimo, Canada
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 190 lbs | Catches: Left
Birthplace: Nanaimo, Canada
Matthew Hutchinson, from Nanaimo, BC, represents the lone Vancouver Island-born skater at this year’s Development Camp.
Vancouver Giants fans may be familiar with his work as he played 40 games across three seasons before being sent to the Moose Jaw Warriors midway through the 2024-25 season.
Just 18, Hutchinson was eligible to have his name called at the 2025 entry draft, although the NHL’s Central Scouting didn’t rank him.
If you’re looking for a local kid to cheer for between the crease, Hutchinson is your guy.
Alexander Levshyn
Team: Toronto Patriots (OJHL)
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 163 lbs | Catches: Left
Birthplace: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Age: 18 | Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 163 lbs | Catches: Left
Birthplace: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Born in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Alexander Levshyn is coming off his first official season in North America, during which he started 35 games with the Toronto Patriots of the OJHL.
There, he posted an impressive 23-10-2 record to go with a .935 save percentage, which tied a franchise record.
His dominance has really shown up at the international level, where he is one of the top goaltenders in the U20 World Juniors 1B division, and actually led Ukraine to promotion this year.
Still a very raw netminder, he not only went undrafted but also went unranked. That said, as a Clarkson University commit for the 2027-28 season, he could jump up the ranks in no time.
Development Camp starts on Monday, June 30, and runs through Thursday, July 3, at UBC. The three-day camp will conclude with an inter-squad game at UBC on July 3 at 11:15 am PT, which will be open to the public.
