This Vancouver defence will be put to the test against the Capitals, who rank third in the NHL in goals for this season averaging 3.67 goals per game. John Carlson is off to a red-hot start with five goals and 16 assists through Washington’s first 12 games while Alexander Ovechkin (nine goals) and T.J. Oshie (seven goals) are leading the team in goals. The Capitals lost in overtime to the Oilers on Thursday night, snapping a four-game win streak and falling to 7-2-3 on the season.
Friday night’s total is set at 6.5 goals at online sports betting sites. The OVER is a perfect 6-0 in Washington’s last six games with all six of those games producing at least seven total goals.
Washington’s offence hasn’t scored less than three goals in any of the team’s last nine games, averaging 4.11 goals per game over that stretch. Vancouver’s defence has allowed two goals or less in six of its last seven games with a 1.86 goals against average over that run. Something will have to give in this one.
