Vancouver Canucks defence prospect Jacob Truscott has been selected to play for Team USA at the upcoming 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton.
Truscott, 20, is set to enter his junior year at the University of Michigan. The 6’1″, 172-pound left-handed defenceman scored two goals and 17 points in 40 games with the Michigan Wolverines during the 2021–22 season.
The Canucks originally selected Truscott in the fifth round (No. 144 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft. He’ll join Sean Behrens (COL), Brock Faber (MIN), Luke Hughes (NJ), Wyatt Kaiser (CHI), Tyler Kleven (OTT), Ian Moore (ANA), and Jack Peart (MIN) on defence for the Americans.

Playing physical isn’t the first thing that popped to mind when we thought of Jacob Truscott before this camp but after watching him in the scrimmage, it’s now the first thing I need to write about.
He was throwing the body around in the scrimmage and bodying players off the puck about as often as he could. His skating looked average but his puck-handling skills and physicality were strong.
Truscott is going to have a much bigger role with Michigan next season. There’s a ton of turnover to the NCAA powerhouse and he is going to be relied upon for some big minutes potential alongside Luke Hughes.
The 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship will take place at Rogers Arena in Edmonton from August 9 to 20.
