Vancouver Canucks prospect Arshdeep Bains has captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the leading scorer in the Western Hockey League for the 2021–22 season.

Bains, 21, led the WHL with 112 points in 68 games with the Red Deer Rebels this season. He also led the league with 69 assists and finished seven points ahead of Rebels teammate Ben King for the overall scoring crown.

Kamloops Blazers forward and Dallas Stars prospect Logan Stankoven finished third in the WHL with 104 points in 59 games; 16-year-old phenom Connor Bedard ended up in fourth place with exactly 100 points in just 62 contests.

The Canucks signed Bains to a three-year entry-level contract back on March 11, 2022. Bains’ ELC will take effect starting with the 2022–23 season, when he’ll likely join the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League on a full-time basis.

Born in Surrey, BC on Jan. 9, 2001, Bains wrapped up his WHL regular-season career with 77 goals and 209 points in 257 games. The Rebels qualified for the WHL playoffs as the No. 3-seed in the Eastern Conference, but Bains could join Abbotsford on a tryout during the AHL’s Calder Cup playoffs if Red Deer is eliminated early.

The Rebels and the Brandon Wheat Kings will square off for Game 1 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series in Red Deer on April 22. Bains did not record a point in his first nine career playoff games with the Rebels.
