Wild vs Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report
Before the regular season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Canucks were dealing with some inconsistency issues on offense. Vancouver went 2-5 SU over its last seven regular-season games scoring 11 goals in the two wins but only 10 total goals across the five losses. The snake-bitten version of the Canucks offense was the one that showed up in Game 1 as Vancouver failed to get any of its 28 shots past Wild goalkeeper Alex Stalock.
Vancouver has shown plenty of bite this season as a small underdog. In their last 13 games as an underdog of +120 or less, the Canucks are 8-5 per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Minnesota couldn’t have asked for a much better start to the postseason. The Wild cashed in on the power play with 2:50 left in the first period and controlled the tempo the rest of the way, adding another power play goal in the second period before eventually putting the game away with an empty-netter late in the third. Alex Stalock had an excellent regular season with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage, and his confidence has to be sky-high after Sunday night’s shutout.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The UNDER is 8-4 in Minnesota’s last 12 games against Western Conference opponents.
While the Wild ended up with a convincing 3-0 win on the scoreboard, the gap between these two teams is razor-thin. Both of Minnesota’s goals against Jacob Markstrom came on the power play; Minnesota had four power play opportunities in the game to Vancouver’s one. With 5-on-5 play this evenly matched, the first goal in every game of this series is going to be so valuable to the team that gets it.
