The Vancouver Canucks have released eight players from their 2023 training camp, the club announced Tuesday morning.

The Canucks have sent forwards Jermaine Loewen, Marc Gatcomb, and Dmitry Zlodeyev, defensemen Chad Nychuk and Alex Kannok-Liepert, and goaltender Jonathan Lemieux to the 2023 Abbotsford Canucks training camp.

Additionally, the Canucks loaned forward Karel Plasek to abbotsford and released forward Cooper Walker from his amateur tryout agreement.

The Canucks previously assigned five players (forward Vilmer Alriksson, defensemen Kirill Kudryavtsev, Sawyer Mynio, and Hunter Brzustewicz, and goaltender Ty Young) to their respective junior teams on Monday.

After their latest round of cuts, the Canucks now have 47 players (26 forwards, 15 defensemen, and six goaltenders) in their training camp:

Forwards (26): Nils Åman, Arshdeep Bains, Anthony Beauvillier, Josh Bloom, Teddy Blueger, Brock Boeser, Phil Di Giuseppe, Sheldon Dries, Conor Garland, Nils Höglander, Dakota Joshua, Linus Karlsson, Danila Klimovich, Andrei Kuzmenko, Aidan McDonough, Ilya Mikheyev, J.T. Miller, Tristen Nielsen, Elias Pettersson, Vasily Podkolzin, Aatu Räty, Max Sasson, John Stevens*, Jack Studnicka, Pius Suter, Chase Wouters*.

Defensemen (15): Guillaume Brisebois, Ian Cole, Akito Hirose, Filip Hronek, Quinn Hughes, Matt Irwin, Filip Johansson, Noah Juulsen, Cole McWard, Tyler Myers, Jack Rathbone, Quinn Schmiemann*, Carson Soucy, Christian Wolanin, Jett Woo.

Goaltenders (6): Thatcher Demko, Casey DeSmith, Spencer Martin, Zach Sawchenko, Arturs Silovs, Nikita Tolopilo.

The Canucks have played one game thus far in the 2023 preseason, losing 10–0 to Jacob Markstrom and the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome on September 24. They’re set to hit the ice again on Wednesday to take on the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place.

Vancouver won’t host a preseason game until the Oilers come to town on September 30. Finally, the Canucks will kick off their 2023–24 regular season schedule when they take on the Oilers in Vancouver on October 11 at 7:00 p.m. MT.
