Our hosts were bumped out of their usual spot from 3-5 on Saturdays to this Thursday from 7-9, but that doesn’t get in the way of another great show.
Hot off the heels of the Canucks listless 2-1 loss to the visiting Arizona Coyotes, the big question was how they’d respond against the Minnesota Wild. The answer? Better, but not nearly good enough for a win.
Joining the show a day ahead of that match was The Athletic Minnesota’s Michael Russo to preview what was in store for the Canucks and how the short- and long-term future could shake out for the Wild. The Canucks match with the Wild may be in the rearview mirror, but the storylines that J.D. Burke and Jon Abbott broach with Russo have a lot of life left in them still. It’s a mostly timeless interview, and well worth the listen.
After dissecting the Canucks loss to the Coyotes and previewing another at the hands of the Wild, Abbott and Burke shift gears to look at the bigger picture. They get into what life after Brock Boeser is like for the Canucks, and the early returns aren’t good. Then there’s the matter of the exceptional prospect pool — is it really exceptional? Time will tell, but for now, there’s still work to be done, Burke surmises.
In the second hour of the show our hosts get into something off the ice, hosting former CanucksArmy contributor Cam Davie for a talk about their Money on the Board initiative and The Flow shirts that have raised thousands for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC & Yukon. It’s a great cause, and if you haven’t already contributed, follow this tweet to play your part.
