Add three more names to the list of candidates for the Vancouver Canucks GM job.
According to reports from CHEK TV’s Rick Dhaliwal and TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, Jamie Langenbrunner, Jeff Tambellini, and Brad Pascall interviewed with the Canucks following the club’s search for their next General Manager.
“Add Calgary Flames AGM Brad Pascall as another candidate who has interviewed with the Canucks as well,” LeBrun reported Thursday morning.
“Jamie Langenbrunner also interviewed with the Canucks and was very impressive,” Dhaliwal added in a post to X. Dhaliwal later added that the Canucks have also interviewed Jeff Tambellini as well.
Jamie Langenbrunner
Langenbrunner has been with the Boston Bruins since 2015, when he started out as a development coach. He was promoted to Director of Player Development in 2019 before once again being elevated to assistant general manager in 2022. Langenbrunner currently serves as an AGM for the Bruins.
As a player, Langenbrunner played over 1000 games in the NHL, with stops in Dallas, New Jersey, and St. Louis. Langenbrunner won Stanley Cups with the Stars in 1998-99 and with the Devils in 2002-03.
Brad Pascall
Following his pro career, Brad Pascall quickly worked his way up to serving as GM and Vice President of Hockey Operations for Hockey Canada before taking a job with the Calgary Flames in 2014.
A native of Coquitlam, Pascall is well-regarded in Calgary for his work in leading the Flames’ developmental system. Since 2014, Pascall has served as the Flames’ AGM and, for most of those years, as the GM of their AHL affiliate. In 2023-24, Pascall was elevated to Flames’ Vice President of Hockey Operations, a role he still holds to this day. Pascall also served as co-GM alongside Joe Thornton for Canada’s 2024 and 2025 Spengler Cup teams. Following Brad Treliving’s departure from Calgary, the Flames GM job ultimately came down to Pascall and Crag Conroy. Obviously, the Flames elected to go with Conroy.
Jeff Tambellini
Tambellini’s post playing career featured a brief stop in the NCAA as an assistant coach with Michigan, then a slightly longer stint in the BCHL as the Trail Smoke Eaters’ head coach and GM. Tambellini joined the Tampa Bay Lightning as a collegiate scout in 2020-21 before accepting a role as Director of Player Development with the Seattle Kraken in 2022-23. He then rejoined the Lightning this season, holding the titles of AGM and Director of Hockey Operations.
Dhaliwal also reported on Wednesday that the Canucks had interviewed Patrick Burke, son of ex-Canucks GM and longtime NHL executive Brian Burke. Later in the day, Thomas Drance reported that Florida Panthers assistant general manager Brett Peterson has been a part of the Canucks’ GM search as well.
