The Canadian Hockey League has shut down their season cancelling their playoffs and the entirety of the Memorial Cup.
The decision comes days after the CHL announced they would be shutting down their regular season. The Memorial Cup, which was scheduled to take place from May 22-31 in Kelowna, B.C., is always the highlight of Canada’s major junior hockey ranks.
And for the first time in its 102-year history, the Memorial Cup will not be handed out due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The news is a tough pill to swallow for anyone in the junior ranks, but these unprecedented times call for unprecedented actions.
