Canucks vs Golden Knights | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Canucks had no answers for the Golden Knights on Sunday night. Jacob Markstrom was pulled from the game after allowing his fifth goal of the contest in the third period, though his play wasn’t the issue on a night that Vegas dominated play on both sides of the ice. The Golden Knights outshot the Canucks 39 to 26 en route to a 5-0 win that the Canucks will happily put behind them as they look for better results in Game 2.
In their last four games against Pacific Division opponents, the Canucks are 0-4 on the moneyline per the OddsShark NHL Database. Vancouver was 7-0 in its previous seven games against division rivals before the four-game skid.
Robin Lehner stopped all 26 shots that he faced to earn his first career postseason shutout. Lehner was originally brought in at the trade deadline as a back-up for Marc-Andre Fleury, but he has taken over the starting job as Fleury was having an underwhelming stretch of play before the NHL season’s postponement and recorded just an .886 save percentage in two starts since the team’s return to action.
This goalie controversy could become a factor at some point during this postseason, but it may not matter if the Knights offense keeps racking up goals like it has over the team’s current 8-1 postseason run.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at betting sites. The UNDER is 4-2 in Vegas’ last six games.
Vancouver bounced back from a 3-0 series-opening loss to the Minnesota Wild to win three straight games and bounced back from two straight losses to the St. Louis Blues to win two straight games and the first-round series. Can the Canucks do the same against one of the NHL’s hottest teams?
