Announced on the stage at the hometown 2019 NHL Draft, the Canucks will be honouring Daniel and Henrik Sedin with a week-long celebration in February of next season.
With this, the Canucks confirmed that they will be retiring both numbers, 22 and 33, during this celebration for what the Sedins brought to the city of Vancouver and this franchise.
The jersey retirement and the ceremonies will take place during three straight home games in February. Beginning with a game celebrating the four legends currently already honoured by the Canucks: Stan Smyl, Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund and Pavel Bure.
Later that week, the official celebration game will take place for the Sedins, where their jerseys will be officially raised into the rafters of Rogers Arena.
A combined 2,636 games played and 2,111 points, the Sedins lead the Canucks franchise in multiple categories and have demonstrated pure dominance throughout the NHL, leading the team to multiple successful seasons.
Henrik is a two-time First Team All-Star, two-time King Clancy Memorial Trophy winner, won the Art Ross Trophy and the Hart Trophy. While Daniel has won the Ted Lindsay Award, Art Ross Trophy, and has been a First Team All-Star. All of the accolades could not describe how important him and Daniel were to the Canucks.
Specific dates and times for the celebration during a week in February will be later announced, with the confirmation of the Canucks regular season schedule.
