I don’t recognize this #Canucks team. In a good way. Quinn Hughes: “It’s just cool being part of a group that is... just fired up about winning and are kind of fighting for each other.” sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/hor…

The tides have changed in Vancouver and the team is suddenly starting to feel successful again.
After their Tuesday night 5-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings, the Canucks have a 6-3-0 record this season. One of the better starts for the team in recent memory feels a little more real than past success.
The team is built on homegrown players that have impacted their season immensely.
One homegrown defenceman in Quinn Hughes recognizes that in just his first year.
It’s quite early into the season so there’s no sense in making any bold predictions, but this team has just felt different. It hits different.
The wins might not have been particularly pretty and there are some major acquisitions that aren’t quite performing as well as everyone hoped, but this team has won twice the amount of games that they have lost. I would call that a fairly good start to what could be a symbolic season.
Canucks are heading back home to play host to the Washington Capitals on Friday night. A big test for the current team, but if the statement by Hughes says anything — they’re ready for the challenge.
