It was neither a busy nor a successful week for the Canucks. After the Canucks’ performances in the third period of their games, it would have been fitting to have just stopped ranking them after #14 today. They’re all here, though, from the stars to the duds to the guys who haven’t even played a game yet:
1. Chris Tanev:
One shining spot on the roster this week was Chris Tanev. On top of being his usual reliable self, Tanev scores his first ever power play goal got to celebrate with what is definitely the best of all the personalized goal songs so far, Nelly’s Hot in Herre.

2. John Tortorella:
Tortorella’s legacy in Vancouver could definitely be about skipping practices and overplaying his best players. Yet despite all this, John was the key to the Canucks getting the sixth overall pick that turned into Jake Virtanen and now he’s gifted the Canucks a second round pick after being hired by the Columbus Blue Jackets. For this, Torts, you get the #2 spot this week!
3. Henrik Sedin:
The captain played his 1110th NHL game this week and needs to play just 30 more games with the Canucks to match Trevor Linden’s franchise-best 1140. Not bad. Also not bad:
4. Radim Vrbata:
Radim Vrbata finally bumped his scoring slump in the least Vrbata way possible.
5. Daniel Sedin:
It didn’t count, but Daniel gets infinity style points for deflecting the puck past Petr Mrazek with an elbow that would make Duncan Keith proud.
6. Ben Hutton:
Ben Hutton is still adjusting to the NHL, but he’s doing so in a wildly entertaining way and this week was included as a first pairing on the NHL’s All Calder team.
7. Alex Edler
Any week that he doesn’t play for John Tortorella is a great week for Alex Edler!
8. Brandon Sutter:
Sutter’s 3 goals are good for the team lead but aren’t quite enough for him to remain on the first powerplay unit. The second unit is working out well so far, though:
9. Ryan Miller:
Despite his two losses, Miller has been good. His best came against the best when he robbed Ovechkin during Thursday’s game.
10. Alex Burrows:
Burrows, who has had a nice start to the season, is embracing his role as the team’s motivational speaker.
11. Bo Horvat:
It’s nice to see that Canucks fans aren’t losing faith in Horvat after a couple of frustrating weeks for the 20-year-old. The Province ran a poll asking who Henrik should give the C to when he and Daniel retire and the results were unanimous:
12. Yannick Weber:
Yannick Weber finally slotted into the lineup on Saturday, played over 20 minutes, and certainly made the first powerplay unit look more threatening though they did not capitalize.
13. Jannik Hansen:
No matter how well he plays, Hansen will never be free from the failed breakaway comments.
14. Dan Hamhuis:
Hamhuis seemed to look a lot better with Weber. Nice for Dan.
15. Jared McCann:
Jared McCann is certainly looking like the best part of the Kesler return. Jared showed shades of #17 himself when he drew a questionable penalty against Detroit.
16. Jake Virtanen:
Despite his limited ice time, Virtanen has been fun to watch. Everything he does becomes a little more impressive when you remember how young he is:
17. Sven Baertschi:
Sven Baertschi hasn’t exactly broken onto the scoresheet, but he has broken some things!
18. Brandon Prust:
PK Subban calls him Brandon Prizzy so now we all have to call him Brandon Prizzy.
19. Derek Dorsett:
It’s not really his fault but Derek Dorsett probably plays too much.
20. Luca Sbisa:
Luca’s personal goal song should be clown music.

20. Matt Bartkowski:
How he has fallen. After topping the power rankings last week, Bartkowski has been scratched and has dropped to 20th.
21. Adam Cracknell, Chris Higgins, Jacob Markstrom, and Richard Bachman:
None of these people played a game this week!
22. Krystof Vrbata:
After giving his dad a hard time about not scoring, Krystof Vrbata is now under a lot of pressure to score. Gotta back it up if you wanna move up, kid.
