Canucks Player Power Rankings – Dec. 21st, 2015

Dec 21, 2015, 12:49 ESTUpdated:

A lot of people are rooting for the Canucks to tank this season and I understand that but imagine what these power rankings would look like if every single game was like that game in Minnesota earlier this week. Winning isn’t all bad.
1. Jared McCann:
Jared McCann finds himself on the top line and on the top of the power rankings this week after taking a lemon (Henrik Sedin’s injury) and turning it into lemonade (goals).
He’s not ready to fully usurp Henrik, though:
2. Bo Horvat:
He’s alive! His goalless drought is not over, but Bo had a very nice weekend, setting up Sven Baertschi twice and even wrestling his opponents. All with a smile on his face.

3. Daniel Sedin:
Talking about the Sedins can feel sort of boring sometimes cause it’s just like hey big news Daniel Sedin is still good at ice hockey.
4. Sven Baertschi:
Sven Baertschi, meanwhile, is fun. When Sven does stuff, it’s exciting and noteworthy. Sven did well this week.
5. Radim Vrbata:
Radim often shows off his surgeon-like hands, but this week he proved that he has the patience of a medical doctor, too. Because patience sounds like patients. Accept the joke.
6. Jannik Hansen:
To make up for the absent Henrik, Jannik Hansen is not only setting up Daniel, but also putting a positive spin on the Canucks’ losses:
7. Ryan Miller:
It is hard to not feel a little bad for Miller when you take the Canucks defensive performances into account. He made some very nice saves this week.
8. Alex Edler:
Edler played an especially good game in Philadelphia, though the most memorable highlight of the game was a moment that Edler would probably like to forget.
9. Jake Virtanen:
Jake Virtanen is in Finland and he is taking very fun selfies.

10. Chris Tanev:
Without Henrik to play alongside Daniel, Tanev and Edler are probably the Canucks’ most important duo right now. It’s not quite the same.
11. Ben Hutton:
Ben Hutton still hasn’t scored his first NHL goal, but has provided Canucks fans with a seemingly endless number of celebration .gifs. Let’s go, Ben.

12. Derek Dorsett:
Roberto Luongo let Derek Dorsett score on him this week haha.
13. Alex Burrows:
Both Canuck Alexs played a role in goaltending highlight this week. Goodness.
14. Adam Cracknell:
Adam Cracknell does basically exactly what Adam Cracknell should be doing. Go Adam.
15. Yannick Weber:
Yannick Weber, the opposite of a cinnamon bun, need less icing.
16. Brandon Prust:
Brandon Prust very nearly scored a goal on his own net, but he did not.
17. Chris Higgins:
Hobby of the week: searching Twitter for “Higgins McCann” after the Canucks participate in a shootout.

18. Alex Biega:
It briefly looked like Alex Biega had scored a goal this week! He did not, because Jannik Hansen tipped it, but it was close.
19. Matt Bartkowski:
Bartkowski seems to hate Marcel Dionne, who Jagr passed on the NHL all time scoring list immediately after this photo was taken.
20. Henrik Sedin:
If Henrik Sedin has a bad week, pretty much anyone involved with the Canucks will have one, too. A broken Henrik means many broken hearts, but he’s still a nice man who is doing nice things:

21. Brandon Sutter & Luca Sbisa & Dan Hamhuis:
The injured guys are missing out on so much fun.
22. Jacob Markstrom:
I want to say that Markstrom did not have the worst week out of all of these guys – he played well in Philly and was thrown into the game in Florida mid-shootout – but this tweet is just so sad that he can’t not be at the bottom of this list. I’m sorry, Jacob.
