Canucks at Blues | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Canucks looked like a totally different team over their recent three-game homestand than they did in over their two-game road trip to start off the season. Vancouver opened the 2019-20 season with back-to-back losses on the road and was outscored 6-2 in those two games. In three games at home, the Canucks outscored their opponents 16 to 5 across three straight wins.
With seven of its next nine games coming on the road, Vancouver will try to carry the momentum of its successful homestand into this matchup against the defending Stanley Cup champions. Including the final two games of last season, the Canucks are 0-4 in their last four games on the road per the OddsShark NHL Database.
St. Louis has earned points in five of its first six games with a 3-1-2 record to start off the year. The Blues return home after a four-game road trip on Thursday night; they are 8-1 in their last nine regular season home games and 5-1 in their last six home games against the Canucks. Brayden Schenn leads the Blues in goals with five so far this season and is tied with Ryan O’Reilly for the team lead in points with seven.
Thursday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at betting sites. The UNDER is a perfect 8-0 in Vancouver’s last eight games on the road.
With the 15th ranked offense in the NHL averaging 3.17 goals for and the 19th ranked goals against average at 3.33, the Blues appear to have a bit of a Stanley Cup hangover through their first six games. This could be a golden opportunity for the Canucks to pull off a road upset and set the tone for the rest of this four-game road trip.
