Vancouver Canucks fans will get their first taste of competitive action for at least one of their recently drafted prospects later in July.
A few days after the 2026 NHL Draft, USA Hockey announced that recent Canucks draft pick Brooks Rogowski has been invited to USA’s 2026 World Junior Summer Showcase roster.
Canucks’ Matthew Lansing was also invited to the showcase. The tournament is held in Windsor, Ontario, from July 26 – August 1, and consists of Canada, the USA, Sweden, and Finland.
USA will have two separate teams participating in the first two days of the tournament. USA White will play Finland on Day 1, and Sweden on Day 2, while USA Blue will do the opposite. Then, the teams will merge into one team for the final three games, alternating players in and out. On most occasions, USA Hockey will send the returning players home after one game, allowing the first years to finish out the tournament.
The Canucks selected Rogowski with the first pick of the second round (33rd overall) in the 2026 NHL Draft. The 6’7″, 236-lb American spent his draft season playing for the Oshawa Generals in the Ontario Hockey League. Rogowski scored 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points in 46 games. He also appeared in six games for the USNTDP, adding one goal and four points to his totals.
Along with Rogowski, there are 16 other 2026 draftees that will attend the summer showcase: Mikey Berchild (105th overall to the Carolina Hurricanes), Tommy Bleyl (31st overall to the Nashville Predators), Nick Bogas (139th overall to the St. Louis Blues), Ryan Cameron (212nd to the Edmonton Oilers), Wyatt Cullen (10th overall to the Nashville Predators), Ryder Fetterolf (125th overall to the Carolina Hurricanes), Jack Hextall (30th overall to the Calgary Flames), JP Hurlbert (23rd overall to the Detroit Red Wings), Brady Knowling (127th overall to the San Jose Sharks), Casey Mutryn (38th overall to the Seattle Kraken), Landon Nycz (107th to the St. Louis Blues), Victor Plante (47th overall to the Detroit Red Wings), Chase Reid (7th overall to the Seattle Kraken), Timofei Runtso (57th overall to the Montreal Canadiens), Luke Schairer (75th overall to the St. Louis Blues), and Logan Stuart (208th overall to the Washington Capitals).
Team Canada and Team Sweden have yet to announce their rosters. We will wait and see if the Canucks have more representatives at this event once they make their announcements.
