No, youâre not dreaming. The Vancouver Canucks seem to have some positive injury news on their hands.
Brock Boeser needed to be helped off the ice just 33 seconds into the game after taking an Elias Pettersson (the defenceman) shot below the belt. Boeser was in a considerable amount of pain and stayed down on the ice for an extended period of time. Boeser exited and did not return.
Post game, head coach Adam Foote said that Boeser âshould be back next gameâ. CanucksArmyâs Irfaan Gaffar confirmed this on last nightâs episode of Rink Wide Vancouver, saying that Boeser will indeed be good to go in his home state of Minnesota to take on the Wild on Saturday night. Boeser is up to four goals and two assists through 10 games so far this season. Given all the injuries the Canucks are already dealing with, losing Boeser would have been a big blow for this team.
The Canucks are currently without forwards Nils Höglander, Filip Chytil, Jonathan LekkerimÀki, Teddy Blueger, and Conor Garland. On defence, they are missing captain Quinn Hughes, Victor Mancini, and Derek Forbort.
Last night, Kiefer Sherwood rose to the occasion and carried the Canucks to a 4-3 shootout win with his second career hat-trick. Sherwoodâs three goals last night gave him nine on the year, which now has him tied for the NHL-lead in goals. The undermanned Canucks left St. Louis with a win, handing the Blues their sixth straight loss. The Wild, meanwhile, have lost eight of their last nine games. That should mean the Canucks will be taking on a desperate team on Saturday night. The Canucksâ road trip concludes with a stop in Nashville, where the Predators have lost three straight games.
