@Tanner Pearson is feeling it.
The 29-year-old forward scored his third goal in four games to give the Vancouver Canucks a 1–0 lead early in the first period of Sunday’s contest against the New York Rangers.
Pearson’s 10th goal of the 2021–22 season came off a perfect feed from former Rangers forward J.T. Miller, who picked up the puck behind @Alexandar Georgiev’s goal before sending it into the high slot.
Miller’s pass found the tape of a streaking Pearson, who cushioned the puck briefly before slinging past Georgiev to make it a 1–0 game at the 3:12 mark of the opening frame.
With the goal, Pearson extended his own point-scoring streak to four games. The 2014 Stanley Cup champion now has 10 goals and 24 points in 50 games with the Canucks this season.
Pearson is in the first season of the three-year contract extension he signed with the Jim Benning-managed Canucks last April. He carries an annual cap hit of $3.25 million and has a full no-trade clause for the 2021–22 season.
According to Sportsnet Stats, the Canucks are 17–6–2 this season in games where they have scored the first goal. They remain ahead of the Rangers by the same 1–0 score with less than two minutes remaining in the first period.
