The Canucks looked as though they might finally be turning the corner when they snapped out of their 1-5-2 slump with back-to-back road wins over the Nashville Predators and the Washington Capitals. But since that Capitals win, Vancouver has lost three of its last four games in regulation, dropping to 4-8-2 over its last 14 games since opening the year with a 9-3-2 record through its first 14. Vancouver needs to get back on track at home, where the team is just 1-3-2 over its last six games including Sunday’s 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
In their last seven games as a betting favourite, the Canucks are 0-7 on the moneyline per the OddsShark NHL Database.
As a team projected to finish near the bottom of the standings in 2019-20, the Senators got off to a 1-6-1 start that didn’t surprise too many hockey fans. But after that slow start, Ottawa did surprise fans with an impressive 10-5 run over its next 15 games. That hot streak has given way to an 0-4 slump with four straight regulation losses in which the Senators have been outscored 16 to four. Ottawa is just 4-12 in its last 16 road games and 0-3 in its last three.
Tuesday night’s total is set at 6.5 goals at online sports betting sites. The OVER is 7-3 in Vancouver’s last 10 games.
December could be a season-defining month for Vancouver. After surging out of the gate through their first 14 games and struggling over their last 14, the Canucks will have the chance to show which version of the team they really are with nine of their next 11 games coming at home. A win in a game they should be able to handle against the Senators would be a good place to start.
