The St. Louis Blues are leading the pack in the Central Division with a 14-5-6 record so far in 2019. The Blues are hoping to join the 2016 and 2017 Pittsburgh Penguins as the second team to win back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in the post-lockout era.
St. Louis is going off at +1200 on the odds to win the Stanley Cup in 2020 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Interestingly, the Blues are the only Western Conference team among the top six favourites to win the Cup this season. The Boston Bruins (+850), Tampa Bay Lightning (+900), Washington Capitals (+1000), Toronto Maple Leafs (+1200), and New York Islanders (+1200) all have quite the brutal path in front of them in the Eastern Conference this season.
Bucking the trend of teams suffering from a Stanley Cup hangover in the early stages of their cup defence, the Blues jumped out to a 12-3-3 start to the 2019-20 season. St. Louis has since cooled off with a 2-2-3 record over its last seven games, but it’s a safe bet that the defending champions will be a tough out this season.
Right behind the batch of favourites to win the Stanley Cup at online betting sites are the top teams in the Western Conference; the Colorado Avalanche (+1400), Vegas Golden Knights (+1600), Dallas Stars (+1600), and the Edmonton Oilers (+1600). Dallas is the hottest team in hockey right now with seven straight wins and an 11-0-1 point streak over its last 12 games.
The Oilers are the current leaders in the Pacific Division with a record of 16-7-3. The Knights are off to a disappointing 11-11-4 start to the season, but they entered the year as the favourites to win the division.
The Vancouver Canucks are bunched together with a handful of their division rivals on the odds board. The Canucks, Arizona Coyotes, and San Jose Sharks are each going off at +3000 while the Calgary Flames are going off at +3300 on those NHL odds. Vancouver’s odds to win the Stanley Cup had risen with the team’s hot 9-3-2 start to the season, but the team’s recent 3-6-2 skid has put the Canucks back in this long shot bunch out West.
