Vancouver Canucks defenceman @Travis Hamonic suffered a lower-body injury in the second period of his team’s game against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
Just past the 14:00 mark of the middle frame, Hamonic collided with Boston Bruins forward @Brad Marchand along the boards in Vancouver’s attacking zone. The 31-year-old defenceman quickly made his way down the tunnel toward the Canucks’ dressing room.
Marchand was assessed a two-minute minor penalty on the play for interference. Shortly thereafter, Canucks forward @Brock Boeser managed to capitalize on the man-advantage to put his team up 1–0.
Here’s the video of the collision between Marchand and Hamonic, as posted to Twitter by Dr. Harjas Grewal:
With Hamonic now out, the Canucks are without two of their regular defenders: @Oliver Ekman-Larsson did not dress for Wednesday’s game due to an undisclosed injury.
Hamonic has one assist in nine games with the Canucks this season. He’s in the first season of a two-year contract he signed with Vancouver that carries an annual cap hit of $3 million.
