Canucks vs Wild | OddsShark Matchup Report
Four goals appears to be the magic number this season. The Canucks are a perfect 19-0 in the last 19 games that they have scored four goals and are 0-8 in the last eight games that they have failed to score four goals. Bo Horvat scored Vancouver’s fourth goal of the game in Game 2 on the power play in the third period to take a 4-1 lead, and the Canucks held on for a 4-3 regulation win. Jacob Markstrom made 32 saves en route to his first career postseason win.
The Canucks and the Wild have now split their last 18 games at 9-9 apiece per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Supporting the theory that Vancouver may need four goals to win, Minnesota extended its own personal streak of games with at least three goals scored to 10. The Wild are 7-3 over that stretch and are 16-8-1 over their last 25 games. Minnesota has lost back-to-back games only once since January 16 and is 8-1 in its last nine games coming off a loss.
Thursday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at sports betting sites. There have been six or more goals scored in six of the last nine games between Vancouver and Minnesota.
Minnesota has recorded six goals in this series; two on the power play in Game 1, two with an extra attacker late in Game 2, one short-handed, and one empty-netter. The Canucks should feel confident about their 5-on-5 game heading into the final three games of the series after the team’s strong performance on Tuesday. With an elimination game in Game 4 scheduled for Friday night, Thursday’s game on fresh legs is a critical one for both squads.
