The Canucks bounced back from a 1-0 loss at New Jersey on Saturday afternoon as a +115 underdog on the betting lines with a 3-2 win at the New York Rangers on Sunday afternoon at a moneyline of -105. Jacob Markstrom stopped 38 of 40 New York shots in that victory, with Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser, and Jay Beagle scoring the goals. Elias Pettersson had two assists.
That was the second straight UNDER result on the totals for the Canucks, after Thatcher Demko made 23 saves in the team’s loss on Saturday. Jack Hughes scored the Devils’ goal.
Detroit won its first two games of the season over the Predators and Stars, but since then has lost five of its last six contests to fall to 3-5-0 in the standings. The Red Wings were last in action on Friday night against the Oilers, falling 2-1 as +170 road underdogs in that UNDER result. Mike Green had the Red Wings’ only goal, and Jonathan Bernier made 35 saves.
And the Red Wings were also defeated 5-1 on the road at Vancouver back on October 15 as +125 underdogs at online sports betting sites. J.T. Miller had a pair of goals for the Canucks that night, with Pettersson, Troy Stetcher, and Alexander Edler also scoring, and Demko making 26 saves. Dylan Larkin scored for Detroit, and Bernier made 27 saves on the night.
That result evened the teams’ record at 5-5 against one another in their past 10 matchups dating back to January 2015, with the OVER only paying off once in that stretch for totals bettors. The teams split their two meetings last season, with both picking up the win at home.
