Blackhawks at Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Canucks ended December on a five-game winning streak, averaging 4.2 goals per game over that stretch while allowing only 1.75 goals per game over their last four wins. The team’s current winning streak comes on the heels of a three-game losing streak in which Vancouver was outscored 13-6. Inconsistency has plagued the Canucks so far this season, but the team is still right in the thick of the hunt for not only a playoff spot but for the top spot in the Pacific Division as well.
In 18 home games against the Blackhawks since 2011, the Canucks are 12-6 on the moneyline with a current streak of three straight wins per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Like Vancouver, Chicago ended the 2019 calendar year on a high note. After going just 4-9-2 in their previous 15 games, the Blackhawks have compiled a 5-1 record over their last six games. Interestingly, Chicago’s only loss over this six-game stretch was in the one game that the Blackhawks were favoured to win at home against the New Jersey Devils. The Blackhawks are 5-0 in their last five games as an underdog including a 4-0 record on the road.
Thursday night’s total is set at 6.5 goals at betting sites. The OVER is 9-1 in the last 10 games between the Canucks and the Blackhawks.
The average age of Vancouver’s starters is just 27.3 years old, the fourth youngest in the NHL. Four of the team’s top five scorers are under the age of 25. The future in the upcoming decade looks bright for the Canucks regardless of how this season turns out; but more consistent play over the next few months could help Vancouver end its four-season playoff drought and get this young core some valuable postseason experience.
