Every year, the Vancouver Canucks hand out four fan-voted team awards, and every year, the winners don’t come as much of a surprise. Fans can now vote on the winners of the Canucks 2022-23 team awards, which are presented annually.
Fans will vote on the Cyclone Taylor Trophy, awarded to the club’s most valuable player; the Walter (Babe) Pratt Trophy, awarded to the club’s best defenceman; the Pavel Bure Award, given to the player fans deem “most exciting”; and the Fred J. Hume Award, bestowed upon the club’s “unsung hero”.
On yesterday’s episode of Canucks Conversation, Chris Faber and I went over the potential candidates for each award. For MVP, it was hard to make a case for anyone aside from Elias Pettersson, and it was the same case with Quinn Hughes and the best defenceman award. Andrei Kuzmenko seemed like the easy choice for most exciting player, but I tried to present the case for it to go to JT Miller.
For unsung hero, some names discussed were Dakota Joshua, Ethan Bear, and Nils Aman. Watch the clip below!

In addition to the four fan-decided awards, the team will also announce winners for the following awards, for a total of seven Team Awards. The Three Stars Award given to the player with the most three stars selections; the Cyrus H. McLean Trophy to the team’s leading scorer; and the Daniel & Henrik Sedin Award, recognizing community leadership.
The recipient of the “Daniel & Henrik Sedin Award” will be selected by a panel of Canucks Sports & Entertainment members to recognize the player who best exemplifies outstanding community leadership qualities and humanitarian contributions to his community.
