Instead of the usual collection of National Hockey League superstars typically seen at other international tournaments, the Canadian roster for the 2023 Worlds was more of a hodgepodge of all sorts of different players.
With the likes of Michael Carcone, Brad Hunt, and Sammy Blais slotted in next to more established talent like Tyler Toffoli, Lawson Crouse, and MacKenzie Weegar — plus the unorthodox inclusion of Milan Lucic — few onlookers expected Team Canada to dominate at this year&#8217;s Worlds.
And even though they didn&#8217;t run the table in the preliminary round, the Canadians defeated Finland and Latvia in the knockout stages before overpowering Team Germany for gold.
For his part, Myers collected one single point — a goal — while logging a ton of ice time in 10 games at the tournament. He logged 24:44 against Team Germany on Sunday, second among Canadian skaters (behind only Weegar).
