It’s a fun time out in Abbotsford right now.
Some of the Vancouver Canucks’ top prospects are all playing together and are winning a good chunk of their games. Yesterday, we outlined Danila Klimovich’s promising resurgence under new head coach Jeremy Colliton, who gave Klim some tough love to start the campaign with some healthy scratches.
Klimovich’s producing at 5 on 5 has been one of the major stories out of Abbotsford this season.
But right there with it — especially recently — is “the Swedish line”, featuring Nils Aman, Nils Höglander, and Linus Karlsson.
The trio is back together for the first time since the preseason, as Höglander was sent down to the AHL to get a ton of playing time, with Aman following him down Highway 1 shortly thereafter.
Ever since they’ve been on the same line, the trio has been fun to watch, but last night, they may have reached a whole new level.
With 2:38 left in a 1-1 game against the Henderson Silver Knights, Linus Karlsson worked some net-front magic and went between the legs to secure the game-winner for Abbotsford after some crisp passes from Jack Rathbone and Nils Aman:
Vasily Podkolzin gave the Swedish line a nickname post game when speaking to our own Chris Faber, but Faber is keeping that under wraps right with the DAWG formula before he writes an article about this line this week.
After Henderson scored the only goal of the first period, Nils Höglander went to work on the power play and got Abbotsford back in the game in the second, with the assists going to Danila Klimovich and Christian Wolanin.

It was a goaltending duel right down to the final horn, featuring Laurent Brossoit and Arturs Silovs going toe to toe in the goal creases opposite one another. Silovs’ side prevailed, with the Latvian netminder making 26 saves on 27 shots and picking up second star honours in this one.
Unsurprisingly, Karlsson was named the first star of the game. He is now up to ten goals and 17 assists through 33 games this season.
The Abby Canucks will now enjoy some time off, as their next game isn’t until Saturday, January 14th, when they will be in San Jose to take on the Barracuda.
