It appears the city of Vancouver has yet to be ruled out as a potential hub city to host NHL games, TSN’s Pierre LeBrun reported Monday. 

One of the major holdbacks in the NHL selecting a city to go along with what appears to be Las Vegas is Canada’s current quarantine rules, LeBrun added.

Federal law in Canada currently mandates a 14-day quarantine period for anyone returning to the country making it difficult for Canadian teams to operate as a hub city. TSN’s Ryan Rishaug reported last week it appears, however, that a solution may be coming from the federal government to allow Canadian cities to stay in the running.

Along with Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto are being considered as hub city options. NHL brass has previously indicated they’d like to have one city in the U.S. and one in Canada, but uncertainty around the quarantine period could affect that.

Vancouver had its plan approved by provincial officials last week.

Right now, the league is targeting July 10th as the start of the third phase of their return to play plan. That date could be the start of training camps.

Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh are all being considered as other hub cities.
