The Vancouver Canucks have inked forward Jayce Hawryluk to a one-year contract.
First reported by PuckPedia Monday, Hawryluk, 24, will be paid $800,000 in the NHL and $200,000 in the AHL.
He joins the Canucks after spending time in the Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators organizations. In total, he’s played in 68 NHL games over the last three years scoring 10 goals and 22 points.
A former 100-point player for the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings, he was selected in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Panthers.
He’s spent most of his pro career, however, playing in the American Hockey League where he’s scored 27 goals and 95 points in 148 games.
In 26 NHL games last year, he scored three goals and 10 points posting some impressive isolated impacts, according to hockeyviz.com. While he didn’t bring much offensively in the form of a league average impact, his impact in the defensive zone was 12 percent above league average.
