The Vancouver Canucks have recalled centre Ty Mueller from the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks, according to a report from Rick Dhaliwal.
The Canucks originally selected Mueller, who turned 23 last month, in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. After a successful first season of pro hockey with the Abbotsford Canucks, Mueller was rewarded with two NHL games at the end of last season. Through 49 AHL games this season, Mueller has put up 11 goals and 17 assists. Last season, as a rookie, Mueller tallied 12 goals and 27 assists through 64 regular season games with Abbotsford before adding 12 points through 24 playoff games en route to the Abbotsford Canucks’ Calder Cup Championship win.
It’s been a relatively quiet start to the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline, and for the Canucks, most of their big business has seemingly already been completed.
On Wednesday, the Canucks dealt Tyler Myers to the Dallas Stars, getting a second and fourth round pick back in return, and late Thursday evening, the Canucks found a home for Conor Garland, sending him to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a 2nd and 3rd round pick.
So far on Friday, it’s been quiet. But could this roster move suggest that the Canucks will actually move off one of their two pending UFA centres in Teddy Blueger and David Kampf?
The Canucks play in Chicago tonight, and one would assume a centre trade would mean that Aatu Räty finally gets into the lineup. The Canucks play tomorrow night in Winnipeg as well, so there’s certainly a chance that both Räty and Mueller both get a turn in the lineup before the Canucks return home on Monday night.
