With conference championships now decided, the NCAA has officially unveiled the 16-team field that will compete for a national title in April.
The tournament is divided into four regional brackets, each featuring four teams battling for a spot in the Frozen Four, set for April 9 and 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
As expected, two Vancouver Canucks prospects — Anthony Romani and Matthew Lansing — have secured spots in the tournament and will look to chase a national championship.
Anthony Romani — Michigan State
Headlining the Worcester Regional is Michigan State, which fell to Ohio State in the Big Ten semifinals. Despite the loss, the Spartans’ strong 25-8-2 regular season earned them an at-large bid into the tournament.
They will open their tournament against UConn at the DCU Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Thursday, March 26. The winner will advance to face either Dartmouth or Wisconsin in the regional final on Saturday, March 28, with a trip to the Frozen Four on the line.
Romani has enjoyed a strong freshman campaign, sitting fifth in team scoring with 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists) in 35 games. Depending on timing, he could emerge as a candidate to join the Abbotsford Canucks once his collegiate season concludes.
Matthew Lansing — Quinnipiac
After a disappointing exit in the ECAC quarterfinals, Quinnipiac earned an at-large bid into the tournament.
The Bobcats will compete in the Sioux Falls Regional, where they are set to face Hockey East regular-season champion Providence on Thursday, March 26, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in South Dakota.
The winner will advance to the regional final on Saturday, March 28, to take on either North Dakota or Merrimack for a chance to move on to the Frozen Four.
Lansing wrapped up his freshman (draft-plus-one) season with 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 38 games, showing steady progression in his first year at the NCAA level. The 2025 seventh-round pick is expected to return to school for his sophomore season.
