Vancouver Canucks forward Nikolay Goldobin is set to sign a two-year contract in the KHL.
According to Sports-Express’ Igor Eronko, he will be heading to play with CSKA Moscow.
Acquired by the Canucks at the 2017 trade deadline along with a conditional 4th-round draft pick for Jannik Hansen, Goldobin has appeared in 114 games with the Canucks scoring 18 goals and 44 points. He’s split time with the Canucks and Utica Comets, over the last three years.
Last season, he only appeared in one game for the Canucks scoring no points, but the forward put up 19 goals and 50 points in 51 games with the Comets.
According to TSN 1040’s Rick Dhaliwal, Goldobin said the Canucks didn’t want to sign him.
“The Canucks did not want to sign me, I was disappointed how it turned out in (Vancovuer) but I am happy to sign in KHL and will try (the) NHL again in 2 years.”
