The Vancouver Canucks kick off their final California road trip of the season, and will be without one of their forwards for the entirety of it.
According to Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy, Canucks forward Evander Kane did not travel with the team to California. He will miss at least the next three games: tonight against the Los Angeles Kings, Saturday against the San Jose Sharks and Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks.

Kane did not travel with team to California. Foote says Mueller will get in versus San Jose.

After playing in his 1,000th NHL game against the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, March 30, Kane sat out the following two games of the Canucks’ road trip against the Colorado Avalanche and Minnesota Wild. Once the club returned to Vancouver, Kane re-entered the lineup on Saturday, April 4, against the Utah Mammoth, as the team honoured him with a silver stick for accomplishing the career milestone.
The Vancouver native was then held out of the next game on Tuesday, April 7, against the Golden Knights. Head coach Adam Foote shared that the 34-year-old has been dealing with an injury for some time, and his status for the rest of the season was in question. We now know he will miss at least the next three games, with the Canucks returning home for another date with the Kings on Tuesday, April 14, and concluding their season on April 16 in Edmonton against the Oilers.
The 34-year-old was acquired from the Oilers over the summer in exchange for a fourth-round pick (David Lewandowski) in 2025.
In 71 games with his hometown team, Kane has scored 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points with a minus-20 rating and 92 penalty minutes. His point totals have him tied for sixth in team scoring with centre Marco Rossi, who has played in 26 fewer games in a Canucks uniform. Kane is in the final year of his four-year, $20.5 million contract he signed with the Oilers in 2022. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
