It appears that the Vancouver Canucks will be getting two reinforcements back on Tuesday, as the ejected Quinn Hughes returns, as well as potentially Brock Boeser.
Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy shared this video via X/Twitter on Monday morning as the Canucks practice ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Boston Bruins.
Boeser has been out of the Canucks lineup since November 7 in a game against the Los Angeles Kings. He was injured early in the first period when Kings forward Tanner Jeannot picked up speed through the neutral zone and made direct contact with Boeser’s head. The Canuck forward was left on the ice but was able to leave the ice under his own power.
Jeannot was suspended for three games but has since returned and played in three games while Boeser remained out.
The Burnsville, Minnesota native was having a fantastic year before his injury, leading the forward group in goals (6) and points (11) during his 12 games. The sniper has logged 26 shots on goal with three of his goals coming on the power play.
Since his injury, Boeser still holds the team lead in goals with six; however, JT Miller, Elias Pettersson, Kiefer Sherwood and Pius Suter have all caught up and share the lead, with Conor Garland and Jake DeBrusk one behind with five.
Without Boeser, the Canucks have a 3-4 record, being outscored 22-26 with a minus-four goal differential. They currently sit fifth in the Pacific division with 23 points in 19 games played. While they are actually out of a playoff spot, they are just one point behind the Colorado Avalanche and Edmonton Oilers, with two and three games in hand, respectively.
In terms of the division, the Canucks are five points back of the Vegas Golden Knights, four points behind the Calgary Flames and two points back of the Los Angeles Kings, all with two games in hand.
The Canucks – hopefully with Boeser in the lineup – will continue on their road trip Tuesday against the Bruins. The remaining four games on the road trip will see the club play against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, Detroit Red Wings and Minnesota Wild.
