Sorenson Recalled From Wings
The Utica Comets announced today that they have recalled forward Tanner Sorenson from the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL. The move comes on the heels of the team losing Seamus Malone to an injury midway through yesterday’s contest with the Syracuse Crunch.
The team is already without the services of forwards Sven Baertschi, Tyler Graovac, and Zack MacEwen who have all been called up to the parent Canucks, while Jonah Gadjovich and Carter Camper are out with injuries.
Sorenson was signed in the offseason to an AHL deal for just this purpose. He can play the middle, or the wing, depending on where the team plans to use him. My bet is that he plays the middle or they would have summoned Dylan Sadowy instead.
Sorenson has played six games for the Wings, putting up three goals and three assists along the way. He was also suspended for four games and fined an undisclosed amount of money after being assessed a game misconduct for physical abuse of the officials. That suspension has now been served, allowing this call-up to happen.
The Comets will be in action later today when the Rochester Americans come to town for game 16 of the season. CanucksArmy has your pre-game reading at noon and will have your post-game report following today’s action.
