Late in the 2nd period vs. Detroit, Troy Stecher suffered a leg injury which caused him to head to the dressing room in visible discomfort. He wasn’t on the bench to start the third period, which signals that it could be a serious lower-body injury. Dan Murphy has reported that Stecher will not return.

Stecher suffered a knee-on-knee collision and clearly got the worst of it. Although it appears Tatar’s right knee catches his right knee, Stecher shakes off his left leg. It could be an ankle or foot injury, but that’s purely speculation. If his limp through the hallway to the locker room was any indication, it doesn’t look good.
With the Canucks already without Alex Edler, this sets the team’s defense back even further. Should the Canucks make an announcement regarding Stecher’s injury, expect a call-up from Utica in the coming days.
