The Vancouver Canucks will be getting Brock Boeser back when they take on the Boston Bruins tonight at TD Garden in Boston. Per Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre, the Canucks’ bench boss confirmed Boeser would be ready to return following morning skate.
Rick Tocchet confirms that Brock Boeser will play tonight vs Bruins. Max Sasson is the forward coming out for Canucks.
Tocchet said Sasson was tough decision, doesn’t “deserve” to come out. Coach said he told Sasson to stay ready, could play tomorrow in Pittsburgh.

Boeser has missed seven games since going down with an upper body injury following a blindside hit from LA Kings forward Tanner Jeannot on November 7th. Jeannot was suspended three games for the hit, which Boeser said Jeannot apologized for post game. Boeser took part in a full practice on Monday, and indicated that he’d be good to go against the Bruins if he felt good the next day after a hard practice.
“Felt great. Anytime you get to go back out there with your teammates and skate full contact is a nice little treat,” Boeser said after practice yesterday. “It’s always hard to mimic game shape, but they bagged me a few times and pushed me really hard on the ice. I’ve been working hard and feeling better and better out there, it’s just really hard to judge until you step into that first game. Just got to make sure you keep short shifts and kind of control it that way.”
“I thought he looked good today,” Tocchet added after practice. “For Brock, for our team, he’s our scorer. Last year, this year, the playoffs last year, you’re just adding a guy that can instantly add offence… Brock plays the game really well without the puck, he’s usually out there last minute of a game if we’re up a goal, so we’re adding a scorer, but we’re also adding a system guy, which is great.”
It’s expected that Boeser will skate alongside Teddy Blueger and Danton Heinen on the Canucks’ third line, as the coaching staff seems as though they’ll elect to keep the Jake DeBrusk-Elias Pettersson-Kiefer Sherwood line together after a run of strong games as a trio.
Coming out of the Canucks’ lineup is Max Sasson, who made his NHL debut on Saturday night. Sasson, an undrafted college free agent signing by the Canucks at the end of the 2022-23 season, picked up his first NHL point on Saturday night, an assist on Teddy Blueger’s goal that helped propel the Canucks to a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators.
The Canucks play the Bruins on Tuesday night before making the trip to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins on Wednesday. We’ll have a full pregame story dropping soon, so keep it locked on CanucksArmy.com!
