This week in 2017 (Sept. 21), the Vancouver Canucks took on the LA Kings in the NHL’s first game to be played in China. The game was played in Shanghai, and the Kings took a 5-2 victory.

The Canucks were dominated by @Tanner Pearson who scored two goals in front of 10,088 fans. LA scored twice in the first frame, once in the second and twice again in the third.

For Vancouver, @Sven Baertschi and @Markus Granlund got on the board.

“I didn’t like our first period,” Canucks coach Travis Green said of the game afterwards. “I thought our play with the puck wasn’t good enough. I thought [the Kings were] good with the puck in the first compared to us. I like how we played the last two periods.”

In game two of the series, played two days later in Beijing at Wukesong Arena, the Canucks fell once again but this time in a shootout 4-3. @Chris Tanev had scored to send the game into overtime with 1:52 left in the third period.
