Welcome back to another edition of Throwback Thursday!
This week in 2007 (Nov. 29), Roberto Luongo set a Vancouver Canucks record for longest shutout streak in the organization’s history.
The streak saw him made 26 saves in a 2-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets extending his streak to 193:56. It saw him pass over the previous record that was held by Ken Lockett.
Luongo’s last goal he allowed to kick off the streak was against the St. Louis Blues on Nov. 23, 2007.
With two nights between games, Luongo started and shutout Chicago on Nov. 25, Anaheim on Nov. 27 and lastly, Columbus on Nov. 29. He stopped 27, 26 and 26 shots in those games, respectively.
The streak was snapped on Dec. 2 against the Minnesota Wild when Eric Belanger scored on the powerplay at the 16:38 mark of the first period.
