This week in 1996 (Nov. 16), Gino Odjick became the Vancouver Canucks all-time leader in penalty minutes.

Odjick has passed Garth Butcher for the title in a game against the Montreal Canadiens. He first was penalized with a 10-minute misconduct in the first period, before taking two more penalties in the third.

He got dinged for charging at the 3:30 mark of the third period and a roughing call with 43 seconds left in the game. All in all, the Canadiens toppled the Canucks 6-1 that game.

Gino played eight seasons for the Canucks between 1990 and 1998 and racked up 2127 PIM in 444 games with the club.

He left in a 1998 trade and split time with the New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens before retiring in 2002.
