The Vancouver Canucks’ preseason continues on Friday night as they travel down to Seattle for a date with the Kraken.
It has been a successful first two games for the Canucks this preseason.
In their opening game against the Kraken, Nils Höglander opened the scoring in the first period, followed by a Filip Hronek point shot late in the second period. The Kraken’s Ben Meyers put Seattle within one in the first minute of the third period, but it was all for not as Pius Suter found the empty net to reclaim a two-goal lead and secure the 3-1 victory.
Game 2 was held in the Abbotsford Centre, with many Abbotsford Canucks faithful in attendance.
The Canucks faced off against the Calgary Flames in what was a much closer match. For the second straight game, the Canucks scored the first goal off the stick of Max Sasson, who’s familiar with playing in the Abbotsford Centre. Jake Bean tied the game up early in the second period, but Jake DeBrusk gave the Canucks the lead again in the dying minute of the second period.
The third period was one to remember. Samuel Honzek and Dryden Hunt scored five minutes apart to give the Flames their first lead of the game. In the dying seconds of the game, Daniel Sprong scored his highlight-reel goal to even the game and send it to overtime. That’s when we saw Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson, and DeBrusk’s chemistry grow as they potted the game-winning goal.
While tonight’s game is in Seattle, it won’t be regionally televised. Instead, the Canucks will be streaming the game on canucks.com, with Sportsnet 650’s Brendan Batchelor and Landon Ferraro on the call. To watch the stream, click here at 7 PM PT.
Here’s who to keep an eye on in tonight’s game:

-Elias Pettersson and Jake DeBrusk will almost certainly play together again tonight, and it will be interesting to see who lines up on their wing. Rick Tocchet says he wants someone to earn that spot, and it looks like Kiefer Sherwood could be getting that shot tonight based on Thursday’s practice lines. Keep an eye on #44 in white tonight.
-Kirill Kudryavtsev has yet to get into a preseason game, but showed well at Young Stars and at training camp. He skated with Tyler Myers yesterday, and if he’s there tonight, it should be a great opportunity to gauge the young defenceman’s progress ahead of his first season in North America.
-Kevin Lankinen starts in goal, and obviously we all want to see what he’s capable of.
Tonight’s game is slated for a 7 PM puck drop, and you can stream it by clicking here.
