It was on this day back in 1994 that former Vancouver Canucks sniper, Pavel Bure, became only the eighth player in NHL history to register 60-goal seasons in back-to-back years.
On April 13th, 1994, Pavel Bure scored his 60th goal of the season to become the first Vancouver Canuck and eighth NHLer in league history to reach the mark in back-to-back years. Bure’s goal came early in the first period against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the final game of the 1993-94 season, setting the table for a 2-1 victory as Vancouver prepared for what turned out to be a run to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bure’s 60th goal tied his own record for most single-season goals in franchise history, a mark that still stands today and has yet to be repeated. His 60-goal totals in both ’93 and ’94 remain atop of the Canucks’ leaderboard in terms of regular-season goal scoring with the closest challenger being Daniel Sedins’ 41 goals scored during the 2010-11 campaign.
