25 years ago today the Vancouver Canucks acquired Russ Courtnall from the Dallas Stars.

Courtnall, 29, was acquired in exchange for Greg Adams, Dan Kesa, and the Canucks 5th round pick in the 1995 entry draft.

His time in Vancouver was relatively short, playing only parts of three seasons, but he saw much success. Courtnall, who was then playing with his brother Geoff, put up 39 goals and 111 points in only 141 regular-season games, and in the playoffs, he was even better.

In 17 post-season games, Courtnall scored five goals and 16 points.

He was with Vancouver for two years before he was traded along with Esa Tikkanen for Sergei Nemchinov and Brian Noonan.

Courtnall retired a few years later amassing 1029 games played that saw him score 297 goals and 744 assists.
