Yes, @Tyler Motte did that.
The 26-year-old forward — and Connor Bedard’s favourite player — scored a ridiculous between-the-legs goal late in the third period of the Vancouver Canucks’ 4–2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.
After the Canucks won a puck battle behind the Lightning net, Motte gained possession at the goal line directly to @Andrei Vasilevskiy’s left. He immediately put his stick between his own legs and flipped the puck over Vasilevskiy’s shoulder, cutting Tampa’s lead to 3–2.
@Juho Lammikko and @Matthew Highmore picked up the assists on Motte’s fourth goal of the season, which came at the 15:46 mark of the third period.
Playing in his fifth season with the Canucks, Motte has seven points (four goals, three assists) in 21 games. He originally joined the Canucks back in 2018 as part of the deal that made Thomas Vanek a Columbus Blue Jacket.
Motte added the primary assist on Highmore’s goal earlier in Thursday’s game. @Steven Stamkos, @Anthony Cirelli, @Boris Katchouk, and @Brayden Point scored for Tampa in the victory.
With the loss, the Canucks fell to 16–17–3 on the season. They’ll return to action on Saturday to take on the Carolina Hurricanes.
