Another Vancouver Canucks free agent has signed elsewhere, this time with Tyler Toffoli inking a four-year deal that pays him an AAV of $4.25-million.
It’s another devastating blow to a Canucks franchise that has already lost the likes of @Jacob Markstrom, @Troy Stecher and @Chris Tanev through free agency.
Toffoli, 28, was acquired by the Canucks from the LA Kings on Feb. 17, 2020 in exchange for Tim Schaller, Tyler Madden and Vancouver’s 2nd round pick in tonight’s draft.
Toffoli stepped in and was a contributor right away for the Canucks scoring six goals and 10 points in 10 games. He battled injury in the playoffs scoring two goals and as many assists in seven games in the playoffs.
Concern and confusion is likely to set in for Canucks fans doubly so considering the reasonable deals both Toffoli and Stecher signed on the free-agent market.
The Canucks gave up a lot in order to bring Toffoli in at the deadline, and it’s hard to not argue that the deal may not have been worth it.
