Tale of the Tape: Who to watch out for tonight

The Canucks’ Young Stars will face a strong Jets team coming off a 4-3 overtime victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday evening. Winnipeg has brought several talented forwards, including first-round talents Brad Lambert (2022), Brayden Yager (2023), Colby Barlow (2023) and Chaz Lucius (2021).
Lambert was the Manitoba Moose’s top scorer last year, producing 55 points in his rookie year in the AHL. Yager, recently brought in courtesy of a summer prospect swap, has amassed 250 points across 211 with the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL). Barlow, who assisted on the overtime-clinching goal in Friday’s Young Stars game, continues to play strong two-way hockey in the OHL while posting solid numbers with the Owen Sound Attack. As for Lucius, he has struggled to stay healthy but has contributed 18 points over 29 games across the seasons with the Moose.
As for the Canucks, they are coming off a dominant victory on Friday night over the Edmonton Oilers prospects. Despite none of them finding the scoresheet, the top-line trio of Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Arshdeep Bains and Aatu Räty were unanimous standouts, dominating various stretches in each of the three periods. That line remained intact in Saturday’s off-day skate and combined to form the team’s top powerplay unit.
After being a healthy scratch on Friday, Sawyer Mynio is expected to draw into the lineup for the first time in the weekend. The 19-year-old was quarterbacking the top powerplay unit while skating alongside Christian Felton at even strength in Saturday’s skate. Basille Sansonnens, the team’s recent seventh-round draft pick, is also expected to be drawn into the lineup to make his Young Stars debut. Meanwhile, Riley Patterson appears to be sticking with Max Sasson on the second line as they welcome 19-year-old Anthony Romani on their left side.
