For the first time in over ten years, not every Vancouver Canucks regular season game will be broadcasted on Sportsnet this season.
The Canucks’ TV schedule was released late Tuesday morning, with Sportsnet confirming that last season’s regional broadcast team of John Shorthouse (play-by-play), Dave Tomlinson (analyst), Ray Ferraro (analyst), and Dan Murphy (host) would be returning for 2024-25. The schedule release also confirmed rumours in the spring that claimed some games would be moved from Sportsnet to Amazon’s streaming service, Prime Video.
The NHL signed a deal with Amazon for the next two seasons. The deal will feature NHL games on Prime Video every Monday called, Prime Monday Night Hockey. The opening game on the platform will take place on the first Monday of the season, as the Pittsburgh Penguins travel to Montreal for a date with the Canadiens.
The schedule highlights one Canadian team each week. The Toronto Maple Leafs have the most games on Prime Monday Night Hockey with six, followed by the Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames with five, the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and Winnipeg Jets with four, and the Ottawa Senators with just three.
Vancouver’s four games are as follows:
Monday, December 23 vs. San Jose Sharks
Monday, January 6 @ Montreal Canadiens
Monday, January 27 @ St. Louis Blues
Monday, March 24 @ New Jersey Devils
This marks the first time a Canucks regular season game will not be televised on Sportsnet since 2014.
Here is what nhl.com had to say regarding the bundle.
“The Prime Monday Night Hockey package, produced by Prime Video, will feature a new broadcast team offering in-depth analysis and play-by-play coverage, and stream live exclusively to Prime members in Canada.”

Amazon announced that existing Amazon Prime Video members in Canada will receive Prime Monday Night Hockey at no extra cost.
Canucks training camp kicks off on September 19, with the preseason running from September 24 – October 4. Then, the puck drops for the regular season against the Calgary Flames on October 9.
