Former Vancouver Canucks goalie Eddie Lack has announced his retirement.
Lack, 32, broke into the league as a backup to Roberto Luongo in 2013-14. In a video posted to Twitter Monday, Lack said lingering hip problems had forced his retirement.
“My hip issues have come to the point where I can live a normal life, which I’m extremely grateful for, but unfortunately it’s not good enough to play professional hockey,” Lack said in a video. “I’m content with the decision as I know I’ve done everything in my power to come back but it just wasn’t meant to be.”
It time for me to RETIRE. The next 7 minutes are a tribute to All of you that were with me during this crazy ride and my way of saying – THANK YOU.

Over the course of his career, Lack played 144 games posting a 56-55-18 record, a .909 save percentage and nine shutouts.
Lack is currently working as a coach with the Arizona State Sun Devils hockey team.
